We have been super busy and I have been absolutely terrible at updating this blog! The last few months have been big ones for our family. My baby brother Brandon got engaged just before Thanksgiving and they are getting married this Friday in the Rexburg temple. Then we celebrated Thanksgiving here in town with my family which was nice after having the baby ( I wasnt in the mood to travel much).
December 5th we blessed Elena. It was a beautiful day, we were blessed to have many family and friends come celebrate with us and it was wonderful. Dave gave her an amazing blessing and we are soooo very happy to have her special little spirit in our home. Dave's mom Korena made her a beautiful crocheted (sp?) blessing dress-ensemble complete with bonnet, shoes and a blanket. She is so very talented and has made an outfit for both our girls to be blessed in and they will be such special keepsakes for them both.
Dave had finals the following week and passed with flying colors! He graduated in the middle of December with his BS in Psychology. Hooray! We are so proud of him and all the countless hours he's put in. He has applied to ISU's Graduate School of Counseling and we hope to hear if he's been accepted to that program in mid-April. The night of his last final we celebrated! The kids decorated the house with streamers and balloons and we made him an orange sign that read "congrats dad the grad!" We had his favorite enchiladas for dinner and butterscotch cheesecake for dessert. Then we spent the night playing board games as a family. It was really a great night!
That weekend the girls and Iwent to the Nutcracker with Aunt Jen, Mommers, Papa Call and Savanah. It was super fun! The baby was perfect! She slept the entire time, and Eva loved every minute of it- I'm not sure if she even remembered to breathe. She's sooo excited that next year she will be old enough to audition to be in it:)
The week before Christmas we made a darling gingerbread house and the kids had their Christmas concerts and parties at school. We were really busy but doing well and then we found out that baby Elena has an umbilical hernia and she was having some troubles with digestion and constipation. It is so ugly and just looked so uncomfortable! She was so patient and good natured about it but was just miserable. They had her on laxative and fiber treatments and hot lavender baths and snake oils and massages and they said it could take up to twelve months to heal and may require surgery if it doesnt heal. (I can't find a picture of it:( but trust me it was disgusting) She is doing really well now and has another appointment in two weeks to check it but I'm fairly certain it's healing well and rarely bothers her any more.
We Spent Christmas with Dave's parents in Island Park Idaho. We had a very lovely time and enjoyed lots of good food and snow! ( I'll have to do another post for that)
